The Keyz are an Indie/Rock band from Banbury, Oxfordshire with a DIY approach, working on every aspect from writing, producing and recording through to management and promotion. The concentrated hard work and dedication started to bear results when the band secured £15,000 finance through website slicethepie.com. The website allows the public to listen to new music and rate the tracks with an unbiased opinion, so only the very best bands get to the financing stage. The band then had over 200 new fans invest a total of £15,000 to help record the debut album.

The Keyz were also contacted by Orange Unsigned in 2008 to invite them to an open audition in London explaining that they narrowly missed out on the judges final 25 out of over 7,500 bands.

In order to stand out from the crowd, the guys record, produce and mix everything themselves which has resulted in a sound immediately identifiable as The Keyz.

The band’s sound has often been classified as “unique”. A wide range of influences across a very broad musical spectrum (from The Shadows to Rancid) has meant The Keyz cannot be pigeonholed… but we’ll have a go at describing it anyway… If you take the production sound of 70’s rock bands such as ELO and Pink Floyd, then mix that with a pinch of Country, throw in a helping of 80’s American rock and wrap it all up in a modern British Indie ribbon, you have The Keyz

The guys have also enjoyed lots of radio play including live sessions on BBC Radio Oxford and Demon FM Leicester, and received glowing reviews for their debut EP “Superstar Gazer”
